NUH INPATIENT OPERATION & SPECIALISED SUPPORT SERVICES
NUH KENT RIDGE WING LEVEL 5

OVERVIEW
This project encompasses full interior design, architecture, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design and construction works for the relocation of NUH’s Inpatient Operations (IPO) and Specialised Support Services (SSS) from Tower Block Level 6 to Kent Ridge Wing Level 5. Covering approximately 300 square metres, the multi-disciplinary Design & Build scope was executed within a live, sensitive hospital environment, balancing stringent infection control, site acoustics, and dust management with a compressed 3-month project duration.

A SUCCESS STORY
Transforming a complex site located directly above operating clinics and below patient wards into a modern, functional workspace required seamless operational coordination and clever spatial problem-solving.
A standout highlight of the project was overcoming spatial challenges—most notably in the non-standard, triangular layout of the Assistant Chief Operating Officer (ACOO) office. Through custom-designed layout solutions, clever cabinetry alignment, and simulated natural lighting via LED paneling, the space was transformed from a tight, disorienting room into an inviting, high-functionality executive suite.
Furthermore, by integrating built-in cushion seating along unused window ledges and deploying modular workstation configurations, the design optimized every square meter to foster collaborative, face-to-face teamwork while maintaining necessary visual and acoustic privacy. All works were completed safely and quietly without interrupting day-to-day healthcare delivery in neighboring hospital units.
